5 Years of War and Occupation Brings Resistance in the Streets of DC, March 19

img_0788.jpg
On March 19, antiwar protesters hammered War profiteer's Row in the K st area in DC along with blockades at the IRS and paint bombs at a military recruiter. The morning started off a little slow, with 30+ arrested from traditional non-violent CD. Activists said there wasn't enough people at first, but as the day went on, way more people showed and succeeded in a couple serious blockades, roving tours visiting warmongers, a demonstration of waterboarding in front of the White House, and several mini stoppages of the daily business of downtown DC.

3/21 Update: According to Free Republic defenders of the Recruiting center at 14th/L, MPD Chief Lanier on the scene and ordered no arrests: 3/19 || MPD Communications Denial of said order: 3/21

Now a message from the Village Idiot in Chief

Would like to thank each and every one of you cretin LGF/Freakazoid hooples. Are you dumb! Keep continuing to support trasnational corporate war criminal terrorist imperialists such as myself, we really enjoy the laughs. Your vacuous and sheeplike stupidity is the source of much mirth for us

You cowardly idiots, whose only argument for supporting us, is wrapping yourself up in the American flag, shows just how mindless you are.

Keep it up! With your support taxes and the price of gasoline will contine to rise ($10.00 per gallon by 2009) and more coffins will continue to arrive from Iraq and Afghanistan.

During the Funk the War demonstration at Bechtel's office on March 19, a protester was punched in the face by a police officer after the protester smeared red paint on the front of the office building. CNN caught the incident on film. Follow the link below this message and fast-forward to the 1:35 minute mark.

Does anyone recognize the officer? This is obscene. After the incident the protester's glasses fell off and subsequently broke during the ensuing scuffle. Also, does anyone have raw footage of the incident and the officer's badge number?

Do the best screen capture you can of several frames of the punching, and post the still frames.
And save the video and repost. CNN's video may come get lost.

Recruiter still painted two days later

I dropped by the 14th and L recruiter a little after noon-and found most of the paint still on the window and still on the sidewalk-and the recruiters out photographing it on their cellphones!

Much paint still on sidewalk from short rounds

These are the posters that were hung on traffic light boxes around the recruiter-still up by API

Better view of portion of paint recruiters could not reach to remove
Given the recruiters standing around outside and photographing the paint that they have so far been unable to remove, it seems that SDS's "superior combat power" over recruiters is starting to hit home.
Also-the antiwar posters that were hung in the area were still up around the corner near API, although they had been torn down(after yesterday) in front of the recruiter.

Paint STILL up 5 days later!

As of Monday, March 24, the paint is STILL on this recruiter's window and traces still visible on the sidewalk as well.

This recruiter may have to explain to anyone with an "appointment" why his office looks like shit. Oh that's right-this recruiter doesn't GET any appointments because people in DC are getting smart and telling their kids NOT to consider the military!

Re: Recruiter still painted two days later

maybe they want to leave evidence so they can get MPD to cover them.

Need for correction!!

Is not accurate. My photos are already listed on here and "Photopoweragainstempire" are not my photos.

As they are nice photos, they are not mine and should be credited to the proper photographer.

Will the editors please take note.

Thank you and peace!
