Hotel workers again take to the streets to protest Columbia-Sussex
The workers at the Hilton Crystal City, owned by the demon hotel corporation Columbia-Sussex have been under fire, and are fighting to retain the rights they've fought so hard for so many years to attain. Since their contract expired, management has ruthlessly tried to break the union and force the workers back into poverty and barbaric working conditions. Come stand with them on Thursday, the 28th at 4pm, right out in front of the hotel, to demand that Columbia-Sussex cooperate in negiotiations, agree to a fair contract, and stop taking away their rights!

600 Arrested at Mississippi Factory in Largest Immigration Raid in US History
28 Aug 2008
(Updated)
by Democracy Now
Federal agents from the Immigration and Customs Enforcement Agency, or ICE, descended onto the Howard Industries factory early on Monday. They separated all Latino workers from their white and black co-workers, arresting nearly 600 people, in a massive immigration raid on an electrical equipment factory in Laurel, Mississippi. The raid is now being described as the largest in US history, topping the May raid on a meat-processing plant in Postville, Iowa.
When anti-immigrant forces mobilize, they focus on creating a 'Berlin Wall' between the USA and Mexico. I have not heard about any walls keeping East Europeans out. I have not heard about stopping the East Europeans at the borders, when they exit planes or ships, or perhaps cross over from Canada. - Bill Fletcher, Jr. - Another Side to Race and Immigration
