If you had anyone go over the building with an ohms meeter they could of found any shorts. What kind of wiring was it? Was it that old peg wiring? Thats often found in old houses--and will spark.

But if you need to rebuild do it. Act of God is a legitimate grounds for breaking a contract. Was the roof damaged? If so throw a tarp over it--protect it from rain damage.

Good luck in your restoration though. Despite anonymous remark about DIY electricity is not rocket science. Just get someone who is competant to check your work behind you. Use GFI outlets whenever you can--they rock.
