Re: Re: Re: Radical Youth Contingent and Students for a Democratic Society March Overview

i've worked with a sds a lot, but i was bothered by some of the things that went down this weekend. sds was in no way responsible for the actions of the black bloc. there have always been blocs at protests but there seemed to be a tendency of people frontin like sds organized everything. these are the stages at which authoritarianism needs to be addressed.

Re: Re: Re: Re: Radical Youth Contingent and Students for a Democratic Society March Overview

wow, these comments above are just bullshit provocateurs. other *students* joined the ufp&j march from CAN (campus antiwar network), with maybe two sds'ers. they were welcome to do that.

whereas SDS chapters from all over the country were half or more of the black bloc, the other being allies. nobody was fronting as sds, they were sds. look at the flags in the pictures, dumbass and then spell what's on them: s-d-s. then show pictures of those in the ufp&j march...oh wait, you can't.

second, black bloc is a tactic, how many years does it it take you dimwitted liberals to get that. and it's one that has been used effectively by anarchists in this country since 1991 antiwar protests in san francisco.

third, what the hell of you ever known about sds in history even? what do you think the days of rage was?

to you it's all the same: we're good anarchists when we do food not bombs and union organizing and puppet-making...or when we get killed, even you call us martyrs and come to rallies denouncing the injustice...but then the same anarchists do black bloc or engage in direct action, and we're suddenly authoritarian because we have a fucking spine to stand up with.

piss off. you're part of the problem if you can't handle people who aren't afraid to act like we're actually free, rather than bow and scrape to out-moded concepts of skewed fairness and polite convention.

Good lord, I don't want to be in the same room as you, much less the same movement. Learn some social skills! You can at least be decent and comradely... - @ community organizer

maybe i would have some more social skills if people respected diversity of tactics instead of impugning the motives of those engaged in direct action.

You aren't a good anarchist when you talk about SDS the way ANSWER and UFPJ refer to themselves.
You aren't a good anarchist when you refer to a dissenter as a provocateur (thans, spell check) and and a cop.
You may have mised the point, or knowingly changed changed the subject, but the issue is the sprouts of an authoritarian vanguard tendency, loudly and proudly displayed by the SDS and what appears to be a complete lack of willingness to address this with "non-students"

Re: Re: Re: Re: Radical Youth Contingent and Students for a Democratic Society March Overview

actually most of sds bailed and let us keep their flags! haha! not that it matters. it definitely wasn't half the bloc. i know half the bloc.

either way, many of were talking during the day, about how this might very well help out SDS. and any help to friends is fine. the SDSers knew half the bloc wasn't SDS. That's why we kept using the term radical instead of anarchist. but they did make the call and great for them.

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Radical Youth Contingent and Students for a Democratic Society March Overview

does it really matter who was in sds and who wasnt? the call was made by sds hcc for a radical youth bloc, not an sds bloc, there were radical youth there, both in sds and out of sds...
