Re: Re: Largest Civil Disobedience Movement in U.S. History Underway

Many of the people listed in the report have not paid fines.

The tone of your response is self-righteous and arrogant.

Where as it is true that many of the oppressed people you have listed are resisting violently there are just as many who are resisting nonviolently. Are you condemning these Palestinians and Iraqi people too?

Re: Re: Re: Largest Civil Disobedience Movement in U.S. History Underway

If this crap were actual "resistance" -- that is, direct, active interference with troop movements, shipments of war materiel, any other actions with serious impact on "business as usual" -- it might be worth mentioning. As it is, it's a bunch of people who got arrested at some contrived CD action, got toted off to jail, paid their fines, and were released, with no impact whatsoever on business, fascism and imperialism as usual.

Right now, this moment, there are thousands and thousands of Iraqis and Palestinians who know the real score and who are willing to do whatever it takes to drive the American and Israeli imperialists out of their countries -- up to and including the sacrifice of their own lives. Sadly, too many American "activists" have bought into the homogenized, cleaned-up Gandhi mythology that says that it's noble to just sit there and let the State and Capital kick the shit out of you instead of striking back.

As soon as you get some news of recruiting offices and records destroyed, war materiel awaiting shipment on docks destroyed, tax strikes, general strikes, large numbers of troops convinced to desert or turn their guns around, be sure and give us a holler.

Otherwise, I'm sick of hearing about the same old, lame old.

actually if you would have read the whole list it did include people that were actually interferring with the war machine. One example i can remember off the top of my hea from the list is when Pittsburgh Organizing Group blockaded the NREC, and shut it down.

Robotics research was potentially set back several hours, but the activists used a lot of time and money to do so.

Wow, a bit bitter aren't you Mike? When was the last time you sacrificed a little for a movement? I guess you are best at just whining and doodling. There are many ways to speak truth to power and resist. My last conviction, I got 6 months probation and actually never paid the fine. So, no, I did not pay a cent to "the system." And while not everybody is at this point -- it's gradually becoming a trend now.
