Re: WSQT coverage of March 19 protests

What Resistance says is of course absolutely and totally true. Protests of the war in the US ought to be as aggressive as, say, protests in Pakistan outside US installations after US missile strikes kill innocent families.

Unfortunately, there are several levels of pacifism-and followers of some of the more extreme variants tried to make yesterday's performance even less confrontational.

Pacifism is so common here because those who have never seen first hand what happens on the ground in war often either glorify aggressive war outright or get the idea that a "war of choice" like the Iraq War can be stopped by an intellectual discussion of the moral validity of that "choice."

In reality, the Iraq "War of Choice" is a war first and a choice second. Wars are won with military power, so those who stand with the people of Iraq need to think in terms of undermining and weakening US military power-or exercising enough power themselves to open a new front inside the US.

That's why the warmongers don't bring back the draft-it would be just about guaranteed to open a new front in the war inside the US, just like it did in Vietnam.

The Freepers claim 200 "attacks" on recruiters as of now, using a definition of "attack" that seems to include every protest, no matter how nonviolent. During Vietnam, by comparison, around 300 draft boards were either blown up, burned down, or raided and their irreplaceable paper records destroyed. Every destroyed draft board meant all persons registered with that local board could not be issued a legally binding induction order. Therefore, the destruction of draft boards was an effective exercise of military power.

Today, similar results could be obtained by computer(no chance of blowing off your hands, just getting carpal tunnel syndrome). If skillful computer experts were to get into recruiters files and alter or delete them, it would harm recruiting if files on the most "iffy" prospects were altered or deleted. This of course also would work on the draft.

As an example of what a real expert can do, I will cite the example of the pro-Nazi computer game "Zog's Nightmare" and the hacked versions available for download. When a Nazi skinhead installs this game in his computer, a tracking program added by the hackers adds itself to the Windows kernel, unseen by any spyware detection program. This nifty little program then "phones home" the login name of each person logging onto Windoze, the IP address of the computer, and the computers "name" on the network(the name you use when you install thde operating system.) Someone is no doubt obtaining excellent demographic information on Nazis and supporters form this work. Why can I discuss this here? Because the Nazis found out(too late to save their privacy) and are screaming all over their own websites about this!

Just imagine what would happen to a recruiter who found all his personal information on potential recruits replaced with personal information on the latest US soldiers to die in Iraq(minus the fact that they were already IN the military and that they are dead)!
