MAF is supposed to be just a GOP front group, but they seem to have a unusual connection and relationship with the Feds and appears to behind the motivation for these attacks on activists.

The spokes person for MAF is the Aryan Fascist "Melanie Morgan" who "gained national notoriety in the summer of 2006 when she suggested that Bill Keller, an editor of the New York Times, be killed in a "gaschamber" for the crime of "treason" after the Times' reporting on US government spying on Americans."

How a PR firm based puppet front group like MAF has this kind of influence with the Feds is worth looking into.
