I read tonight a brief article by Philip Giraldi posted on the American Conservative website: “War with Iran Might Be Closer than You Think.” “There is considerable speculation,” writes the former CIA officer, “and buzz in Washington today suggesting that the National Security Council has agreed in principle to proceed with plans to attack an Iranian al-Qods [Revolutionary Guards]-run camp that is believed to be training Iraqi militants. The camp that will be targeted is one of several located near Tehran.” Giraldi provides details.

The UN is demanding an investigation into how the Israeli military killed one of its Palestinian school teachers by blasting open the front door of her Gaza home with explosives in the presence of three of her children.
Wafer Shaker al Daghma, 34, a teacher at a local UN Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) elementary school, was killed last Wednesday as she stood preparing to open the wooden door of her home to the troops. According to UNRWA and relatives who found her body, the military used an explosive device on the door which blew most of her head from her body. They then confined the traumatised children – aged from two to 13 – for five hours while the body lay outside the door of the room where they were held.

History may point to it.
As an avid reader of history, I have been leaning towards the view that we, as a nation, are causing our own collapse.

A Canadian toddler has died after a VOIP-based 911 call sent an ambulance to the wrong address.
Last week, as reported by the CBC, a Calgary family dialed 911 via their internet phone service when 18-month-old Elijah Luck went into medical distress. Their VOIP provider, Comwave, then dispatched an ambulance to the family's former home in Mississauga, Ontario, more than twenty-five-hundred miles away.
After waiting over half an hour, the family said, they made another emergency call from a neighbor's land line phone. An ambulance arrived within six minutes, but the toddler was later pronounced dead at the Alberta Children's Hospital…

I need to preface this commentary and say that I have been a member of the Republican Party since the Eisenhower administration of the 1950's.
I need to say that because there will be quite a few folks pointing their fingers and tongues at me as a "Liberal" and that's just not true.

Hollywood Hypocrite: Michael Moore Climbs Aboard The Obama Bus

(ED. NOTE: You know the Obama Bus. It's the one with the PREACHER UNDER IT. This sonofabitch may make great documentaries, but when it's time to put his money where his mouth is, you can count on him to go running back to the goddamn' Donkeycrats. —mf)
Friends,
I don't get to vote for President this primary season. I live in Michigan. The party leaders (both here and in D.C.) couldn't get their act together, and thus our votes will not be counted.
So, if you live in Pennsylvania, can you do me a favor? Will you please cast my vote — and yours — on Tuesday for Senator Barack Obama?
I haven't spoken publicly 'til now as to who I would vote for, primarily for two reasons: 1) Who cares?; and 2) I (and most people I know) don't give a rat's ass whose name is on the ballot in November, as long as there's a picture of JFK and FDR riding a donkey at the top of the ballot, and the word "Democratic" next to the candidate's name…

An Open Letter to Michael Moore on Obama
By WILLIAM KAUFMAN
Last week Michael Moore published an ardent declaration of support for Barack Obama…
I was astonished at the political vacuity of this declaration—even knowing that Moore, since 2004, has proudly brandished the Air-America-Nation-magazine-Progressive-Democrats-of-America-DNC seal of approval. I sent Moore the following open letter. So far, it has elicited no response. Perhaps its appearance on the CounterPunch Web site will prompt him to explain his position more coherently than he did last week…
