WSQT to broadcast shows on 87.9 FM

Due to the blizzard of press and a reporter snitching on us to the FCC, we are moving for the time being to 87.9 FM. We have not been hit, but are taking some precautions to prevent it.
Our FM rig is very compact and can be set up and broken down in minutes. FM antennas are tiny and easily set up without a lot of tuning in place necessary to install a shortened, concealed AM antenna.

Therefore, this rig is much easier and safer to use under fire. Security will have to trump range and 24 hour coverage for a while, so we will be broadcasting shows with an estimated three mile range on a periodic basis.

We expect to return to our normal 24 hour broadcasting at a later time. Until then we will run intertmittant shows with our usual coverage of housing, homeless, war and ienviro issues-with extra attention to the upcoming Counterinaugural protests.

Re: WSQT to broadcast shows on 87.9 FM

Even if the FCC manages to capture one of our rigs, we have a bottomless ability to make more. The big AM rigs with their 10 mile reported range(and a suspicious, questionable report of a skip heard in the UK) cost maybe $40 plus some time in the dumpster fetching parts, and the 3 mile range FM rigs maybe $15 for what the dumpster cannot provide.

In addition, any strike by the FCC on WSQT will result in a withering, on-the-air attack on the FCC's practice of giving away the store on spectrum to giants like Infinity and Clear Channel while harassing the little guys. Thier stewardship of the airwaves will be contrasted to their original mission to ensure difversity and public use of a public asset, namely the electromagnetic spectrum, of which no more can be made.

Anyway, CNN and possibly the FCC as well have challenged us to "bring it on" and that's exactly what we intend to do!

How about CNN, for one.

Oh I'm so afraid. Puke ass microwatt, milk crate for a studio, slobber into the mic wannabe.

Get a real job.

Re: WSQT to broadcast shows on 87.9 FM

Microwatt, my ass! We just upgraded the portable FM rig, now we get 5 watts from it, after we got 3 miles range with just one watt. Should go over 6 miles in all directions, close to what the AM rig does wityh better sound quality(no stereo yet, though...)

Hey this is Tom from free103point9 in NY. Is there a way we can pick up and restream the protest coverage Jan. 20?

Keep up the good work!
