Re: Protest Pics & Inspirational article

The best set of pictures so far have you got more??

Re: Protest Pics & Inspirational article

Thank goodness for the protestors, and thank you to the New York Times and C-SPAN for showing them to the world. The protestors might decrease at least some of the millions of people who hate America now. They will hopefully remind people around the world to not judge us as a whole, but as individuals with different values.

Thanks to Bush, we have very few allies and many more enemies, and I can't blame any of them for feeling anger and the temptation to get back at us. Just ask anyone who has lost someone in the 9/11 attacks or Iraq. The sadness and anger doesn't go away for a long, long time, and one death can leave a scar on many people. I heard many Americans say they were "out for blood" after the 9/11 attacks, and wanted to "get revenge". That's one of the many reasons why war should be a LAST RESORT, not a preferred solution.

Re: Protest Pics & Inspirational article

typical behaviour of the cops, no wonder we call them PIGS.
keep up the fight

Re: Protest Pics & Inspirational article

I really like the last picture, it really represents coming to together and friendship and supoort within the activist community. All of them are great, next and any opportunity we have to show the world our discontent I hope each and every person that was in DC for that objective comes back, and everyone who couldnt make it like myself, and we'll bring more people than the police can muster, they'll have to bring in the military, and then FOX news wont be able to hide the disapproval. The truth is that Love is starting to show it self, and people are starting to see the ugly face of Bush's idea of "freedom" and "justice", which i would like to sum up with a worth while quote... "in facism you can't speak out on the government, in capitalism you cant speak out on the sponser." And in these dire times that could'nt be more obvious. Thank you everybdy who showed up anarchist or conservative to show that Bush and his adminitration are spitting in all of our faces... and remember one thing... Not even Rupurt Murdoch can marginalize millions of people all over that want life to prvail over death and the all mighty dollar. One Love - Marshall

Re: Protest Pics & Inspirational article

Thanks for your comment, Marshall from Boise, here's a picture of how it began www.usatoday.com/news/washington/2005-01-20-protesters_x.htm

and here's the story in the Philadelphia Inquirer. www.philly.com/mld/inquirer/news/nation/10695447.htm

The first picture is after the initial pepper-spray blast. As I knelt down five feet in from of the riot police I recieved a full frontal blast to the face.

It is hard to forgive both the riot police for inciting the riot as well as the anarchists for their juvenile and antagonistic behavior

Re: Protest Pics & Inspirational article

You know I used to have a lot of sympathy for a lot of the hardcore anti-war protests even though I have very dissenting views. What I saw on J20 with the attempt to cross police barricades, mobs running through the street and continued resistance as if this was some sort of revolution really got mine and many others attention to the real aim of many leading these demonstrations. It isn't so much about peaceful protesting as it is about overthrowing the government.

Re: Protest Pics & Inspirational article

Let's remember that the police officers have and always will beat, arrest, and generally brutalize dissenters. The purpose of law is to serve ORDER. And order in our society means big business greed, prison expansion, 100,000 dead Iraqis, etc. The cops possess those steel batons, pepper spray, and the other accoutrements of repression for a reason and their use of them is OFFENSIVE 99 percent of the time.

A quote from Todd. "Here comes Fascist Christ , come to the rescue. Just give me that old time religion". No World Order

Re: Protest Pics & Inspirational article

World wide epiphany !!!!!! This fascist thug mentalitiy must end or the human race will not survive this brave new world.

Re: Protest Pics & Inspirational article

Hard to forgive the protesters for "juvenile" and "antagonistic" behavior? Police blasting unarmed people with pepper-spray guns, beating people with obvious glee, tear-gassing mass crowds, THAT is "antagonistic behavior", and when this is the CONSTANT response from the thugs of the state, just what the HELL type of "behavior" do you expect or think should BE expected??

And don't try any crap about "the cops are responding to the antagonism blah blah" or that the protesters "give the cops the excuse" -- that is utter nonsense and I'm tired of these ridiculous lies. Any of you happen to witness Miami's anti-globalization protests? Notice the nice, peaceful elderly folks getting attacked by thugs with badges, or the way those "brave" cops "protected and served" the public by shooting (rubber bullets) unarmed, praying, peaceful demonstrators in the back and then again in the head while they were already wounded on the ground? Did you see the images of coughing, bloody people dazed by the ferocity of the police attacks?

Being "peaceful" or "legally permitted" gets you NOTHING, they will hunt and smash and shoot and gas and beat you, whenever and wherever they can get away with it. It is not in "response" to anything, and it's especially offensive to give any sort of legitimacy to these brutal, inexcusable, thuggish tactics by portraying the protestors as "antagonizing" armored, helmeted, heavily armed troops with shields and gates. Such claims are entirely without merit, and while it's good to see you demonizing the actions of the police it's irresponsible and unrealistic to equate the actions of protesters to those of the cops. There is no comparison.

The actions of the demonstrators are in response to the ever-expanding national security state police-powers that were on display yesterday in DC. The real "provocation" from the protesters that the police responded to was the expression of dissent, of speech, of assembly. THIS is what leads to the police violence, and there is no point in pretending otherwise.

Re: Protest Pics & Inspirational article

I was in line at the 12th and C Street entrance to the parade route when the checkpoint was rushed and everyone was pepper sprayed. I actually had a ticket to the parade route, but never made it in. One thing that troubled me was nobody seemed to care about hurting innocent bystanders, which the guy behind me was in a wheelchair and was unable to move out of the way since everyone was running from the mob of protesters. I looked around and he and I were the only ones left standing in the street and only because I had a hold of his chair to keep him safely upright. Then after leaving the area a female protester asked "Did the pepper spray taste good?”. I didn't mind the protests; we have that right in this country. The one thing that was strange to me was that a demonstration/protest for peace was started with violence.

Re: Protest Pics & Inspirational article

Bush's idea of freedom and democracy is tyranny and death.

Re: Protest Pics & Inspirational article

The photos represent one advantage of democracy. The point of protest is to demonstrate that not all people support the debacle in Iraq. Until more join in and make their views known, the protests won't have much effect. Too many people choose to remain uninformed or under-inormed to make an intelligent decision.

Re: Protest Pics & Inspirational article

I hope that people will continue their activitism for the next four years and beyond. Furthurmore I hope memebers of the Democratic machince will realize that social justice does not mean voting for a coporate puppet every four years. That if we want racial harmony, Peace, and Economic Eqaulity We need to Organize and continue on with our struggle untill people realize that the profiteer system is flawed.

Re: Protest Pics & Inspirational article

Keep on the "mainstream" press to cover events like this. go to:
www.cnn.com/feedback/forms/form11.html
and you can send cnn a news tip. you don't have to send your name and e-mail or anything else. Flood them with info on a tip and they'll get the message to cover it. Send them the dialog from the day of the inaguration...the hourly, minute breakdown. If they get enough and enough pictures maybe they'll give it some coverage.

"To announce that there must be no criticism of the president, or that we are to stand by the president right or wrong, is not only unpatriotic and servile, but is morally treasonable to the American public."--Teddy Roosevelt

Re: Protest Pics & Inspirational article

I was in D.C. in 2000 protesting, I was in NYC last summer during that puppet Convention, and I was back in D.C. last week.. I was so glad to see others who have a brain and won't believe this idiot bush (notice i won't even capitalize his name) and still noticed the puppet police beating on the people who they deem lesser beings. They're just mad we're not tools of the establishment and beat down the peaceful, you never see them beating down an armed robber, murderer, etc.
We going good and we gotta keep up the fight! I've good nothing but respect for all those who who still stand up against this prick!

Re: Protest Pics & Inspirational article

To Sean C.: what can I say.? Bush got in again because 50% of your nation are dumb, lobotomised redneck inbred fucks like yourself. "commies freaks"? - what decade are you living in? the Cold War ended 14 years ago, dipshit, and the new wars on Emperor George's drawing board will involve people from all nations of the earth trying to kill as many of you as possible. You can thank Emperor George for that. He'll be fine, of course, in his nuclear-protected security bunker safe from harm. Little spoilt rich kids can always count on someone bailing them out of any situation, even 'Nam! Wake up dumbass, you're just potential cannon-fodder to him. But since you're so proud of your nation's actions, why don't you sign yourself up voluntarily and go and torture a few Iraqis yourself? I'm sure you'd love that...

Huge apologies to the rest of the readers for my vitriol, I always rise to the bait. It just astonishes me how many proto-fascist rednecks there seem to be in America. Too much inbreeding?

Re: Protest Pics & Inspirational article

dont you realize that you remind me of the jews, sorry for the analogy. To begin with you never had rights. When you try to stand up for them you go to jail. If you could even amount the right words for such a wrong in thismodern day consumerist age. You should be happy with your tasty wheat, i told you to stay down be homeless. who cares if you die, you are etenally bliss. So it may hurt but soon you will realize the ritualism of pain and acknowledge this as bliss. Bush is just a face. I hate faces i was never much for an individualistic face. Sure im an individualist, but i hate the face. I hate the "psychologist" i hate his face, i hate his induvidual mind i hate his face. I hate his secretary i hate the industyr they've combined forces to create. Maybe this is off the subject or maybe im crazy. This debocle is deeper.
the point being, as long as they "I" am winning it doesnt really matter. Winning what you ask, it dooesnt matter as long as im winning.
