The exhibition was also the first time that Nats fans saw their unofficial mascot, the DC Colonist

DC Fox 5 also mentioned the activists antics on the evening and morning news, footage will be uploaded shortly.

Near the end of the game the activists made their way down to the lower level of RFK stadium, behind 3rd base, and proceeded to hold the signs up for all the spectators to see.

In the bottom of the 9th inning, with the go-ahead runner on base, the DC Colonist held up the large DC sign and ran up & down the stairwells hyping the crowd up. Yet even with the crowd ecstatically cheering, the Nationals were unable to score in the final inning.

More DC Statehood Nats games are being planned for later this summer. If you want to participate, please contact: info (at) strike4statehood.com">info (at) strike4statehood.com

Re: DC Statehood Activists Strike 4 Statehood at RFK Stadium

On April 14th @ 6pm, come and join other DC Statehood activists outside of RFK stadium to tell Bush to Play Ball with DC before he throws out the opening pitch.

Re: DC Statehood Activists Strike 4 Statehood at RFK Stadium

having senators is not all it's cracked up to be. neither are congressmen.

instead of demanding representation and statehood, why not demand something worthwhile, like independence?

secede!

Re: DC Statehood Activists Strike 4 Statehood at RFK Stadium

DC = Da Captain?

As in Caotain Morgan?

Seeing hwo the team did with your presence, the proper name for Adam the Mascot is "Jinx".

Re: DC Statehood Activists Strike 4 Statehood at RFK Stadium

Adam was not dressed up as a Colonist for the game, so the jinx must be person above...

Re: DC Statehood Activists Strike 4 Statehood at RFK Stadium

Secede? Indeed! The more I think about it, the more sense it makes.

I only mention this as I've just returned from a few days in Key West -- or as it's also known, the Conch Republic.

In the early '80s, in a typically futile effort to stem the flow of smuggled drugs and "illegal" immigrants, the US Gummint set up a checkpoint at the Key West end of the famous "Seven-Mile Bridge" that's part of the bridge system connecting the Keys to the mainland, and started demanding ID and passports from people.

The people of Key West, outraged, decided that if the US Gummint was going to treat them like a foreign country, then fuck it, they'd secede from the USA, and began refusing to produce ID or pay taxes. The US Gummint, red-faced, was forced to back down and remove the checkpoints.

Key West/Conch Republic, as they like to say down there, "seceded where others failed".
