WSQT and another guerillas station both on 93.5 in different areas of town

North of the Petworth Metro you can pick up yet another gueilla radio station, playing a lot of Jamaican and Reggae music among other styles. South of there you can heat WSQT in the evenings.
For a five block range on the south face of the hill reception switches back and forth between them, beyond that range there is little or no interference between them.

We would prefer separate channels but when we tried moving to 94.3 we found the Warrington,Va station there had a corporate office in Silver Spring so we had to get off that frequency.

When we first moved off 97.9 we were asked to avoid 95.9 for the other stations use after they were driven off 98.1 FM. Soon after setting up on 93.5, we heard them on 93.5 instead!

For us to move down to 90.5 or up to 95.9 is a transmitter rebuilding job, as our rig cannot tune that far up or down without modification similar to that we used to get off 87.9

Anyway, we seem to be serving different parts of town with only five blocks chewed off our range and a little more from theirs. The hills seem to be shielding us from each other to a great extent, so each signal is free of interference from the other except that tiny area.

If you operate the other station and are reading this, we can be reached at wsqtradio (at) hushmail.com if you with to discuss this situation. In addition, we can help you get better sound on your signal. You have excelent range covering much of upper NW and Silver Spring, but often have seriously distorted sound. You sounded great on 98.1 and if you still have the same rig we can help you get it back.
