multireligious service that will be held at 9 a.m. at the (Lutheran) Church of the Reformation located at 212 E Capitol Street, NE, Washington D.C. It is being planned by the Network of Spiritual Progressives along with The Shalom Center, the Buddhist Peace Fellowship, Pax Christi, and a number of spiritual leaders from a wide range of communities and traditions. The service will focus on song, meditation, and teachings from the various traditions that envision a future based not on war and domination but on the weave of world community. From the service, we will walk together as a community of diverse faiths to the larger United for Peace and Justice rally, which begins at 11am. UFPJ has asked faith leaders to begin this rally and set the tone for the entire event. If you are a member of the clergy or the leader of a religious body, please gather near the stage—look for the "Clergy" signs—to participate in this part of the service. Wear your vestments if you like.
Converge with other amazing women to march in a loud, colorful and rowdy group to the United for Peace and Justice rally on the Mall together. Join Jane Fonda, Susan Sarandon, Eve Ensler, Q'orianka Kilcher, Rhea Perlman, Mimi Kennedy, Congresswomen Lynn Woolsey and Maxine Waters, CODEPINK Co-Founders and leaders of our co-sponsors for a fun and powerful gathering! * Co-sponsored by the National Organization for Women, Eve Ensler and V-Day, Feminist Majority, WAND: Women's Action for New Directions, Feminist Peace Network and WATER: Women's Alliance for Theology, Ethics and Ritual.

“BRING THE TROOPS HOME NOW!”: The Iraq Commission has spoken. The President has spoken. Now it’s your turn to speak out on the war in Iraq. With buses coming from more than 30 states, Saturday’s anti-war rally in DC provides a chance to demonstrate the breadth of public opposition to the war in Iraq. Organized labor is shaping up to be the biggest organized contingent in Saturday’s march against the war, reports local organizer Denise Lombard. “We will be at the head of the march with military families and Iraq war veterans organizations against the war in front of us.” Local labor activists will gather at 10:45A at CWA and then march to join the main rally (see On The Line for details). “The weather is predicted to be 45 degrees and sunny!” adds Lombard. “Hang out with friends, get some exercise, and vote with your feet this Saturday to tell Congress: Bring the Troops Home Now!”
Assemble at 10AM, then join hundreds of other groups on the Mall at 11AM for the 'March on Washington' against the Iraq War

Here is a draft call to action about the Demo, with the DEVIL theme explained:: Does D.C. Smell of Sulfur? On January 27, BEAT THE DEVIL with the Arts Bloc contingent of the UFPJ march on Washington!
The Washington Action Group (WAG) is calling on culture workers to join together in all of our diabolical (and anti-diabolic) madness to march in a theatrical bloc that will engage themes of a devilish nature, like: Will the Dems fail the test of satan and betray the anti-war vote that brought them to office? Could it be that Hugo Chavez actually saw the devil in Bush? Does D.C. need an exorcism? How can you beat the devil in YOU? How might the angel of light reveal the true forces behind the war?
The Devil is a title given to the supernatural entity, who, in Christianity, Islam, and certain other faiths, is the most powerful evil entity and the tempter of humankind. God and the Devil are usually portrayed as fighting over the souls of humans, with the Devil seeking to lure people away from God and into hell. The Devil commands a force of lesser evil spirits, commonly known as demons. The Devil is destined to be destroyed at the end of this age, but not before he has led many humans, some say the vast majority, to perdition.
The Devil is commonly associated with heretics, infidels, and other unbelievers.
Student and youth call for mobilization during the Jan. 27 DC march.
Students, youth, and radicals alike:
On January 27th, United for Peace and Justice is organizing a mass demonstration in DC to end the war and bring the troops home. Howard Community College Students for a Democratic Society (HCC-SDS) calls upon all radical youth in the area to unite and ensure that our voice is heard. We believe that direct participation is necessary for a country to label itself a democracy, and this is not something we believe the Democrats will grant us with their new Congress. We must converge on the streets of DC to express our frustration with US global policy.
HCC-SDS is calling upon radical student/youth contingent to assemble at Dupont Circle at 11am on the day of the march.
March in solidarity with students and youth from across the country on Saturday January 27th in D.C. Join the Campus Anti-War Network (CAN), Members of SDS, and World Can't Wait in this Unified Youth and Student contingent.
The meeting place for the unified student and youth contingent will be on the steps of the Smithsonian Institute at 11 AM. It's the red brick building on the mall, next to Hirshorn, and near the Air and Space Museum. The address is 900 Jefferson Drive SW. For a visual representation please see the following link, note that the UFPJ rallying point is on the Mall between 3rd and 7th. The Smithsonian is right across the street, we will all congregate together and then head over to the rally as a strong and unified contingent.
Google Maps
The closest Metro strop is the "Smithsonian" Metro on the blue/orange lines. As you exit the metro you will probably be in the middle of a large demonstration (I believe it has two exists, one drops you off on Independence, the other in the middle of the park), and you can also check the street signs or ask anyone around for directions should you need them.
Iowa for example will be riding the Metro in from Shady Grove and will be getting off at Gallery Place - Chinatown, which drops us off 6 blocks north of the mall on 7th street. Not a bad walk.

We Demand:Connecticut United for Peace (CTUP), The Coalition for Justice and Accountability (D.C.), and Adalah-NY: The Coalition for Justice in the Middle East are calling for a national contingent to march against the occupation of Iraq, against the occupation of Palestine, against the attacks on Lebanon, against attacks and other aggressions on Iran and Syria, and for justice in all of the Middle East. We need to come together and mobilize in a loud, visible presence that links these attacks and raises our demands for JUSTICE.
This past year saw a massive escalation in the destruction unleashed by the United States and Israel on the Middle East:
Israel has finally admitted to being the only country in the Middle East with a nuclear arsenal. Moreover, Bush has proposed a major escalation in Iraq and implied possible war on Iran and Syria.
Clearly, Israeli aggression is supported by the US, and is closely tied to the illegal occupation of Iraq and larger U.S. strategies for regional hegemony. The anti-war movement must make these connections apparent if peace and justice is ever to be brought to the region and to the world.
We invite everyone who wants a Middle East free of injustices and oppression to march with us on Jan 27th.

Oaxaca Solidarity action Sunday,
Jan 28: Gather 12 PM Murrow Park
March 12:30 PM to Mexican Embassy 1911 Penn
Bring pots and pans!
As the people of Mexico continue their struggle for justice, autonomy, and dignity, the United States physically and economically supports violence against the poor.
In DC, we will gather in Murrow Park at 5pm, across from the World Bank (18th and H, NW). The World Bank props up governments that destroy poor and indigenous communities in Oaxaca. At 12:30 we will march to the Mexican Embassy (1911 Pennsylvania Ave, NW) to demand that the Mexican government be held accountable for the atrocities committed in Oaxaca.
Bring pots, pans, drums, loud noisemakers, and your friends for a raucous cacerolazo!
DC-Industrial Workers of the World
