100 riders in Critical Mass protest Plan Mexico, then ride to Georgetown

On Friday, the second of November, Friends of Brad Will marched on the Mexican Consulate to protest "Plan Mexico"(modelled on Plan Colombia) and remember Brad Will, who was one of many activists killed in Oaxaca. They were joined by a 100 rider strong Critical Mass bike ride for a while.

Plan Mexico would further increase police repression in Mexico-and involve massive US assistance in making this possible. Meanwhile, about 60 people from Oaxaca are still being held in prison, and many more have been driven underground.

Therefore, Friends of Brad Will was backed up by the monthly Critical Mass bike ride at the Mexican Consulate, while a cultural event took place inside.

Critical Mass's turnout was boosted by a substantial contingent from College Park, peaking at about 100 riders in the streets.

After the ride left the Mexican Consulate, the pack passed though Adams-Morgan on its way to GEORGETOWN, where one theme was "we're back!" The ride took place exactly two weeks after a howling hurricane of anti-IMF protesters stormed though Georgetown under drenching rain and wind while IMF/World Bank delegates were partying there.

Any one know who took my picture when I picked up my bike and held it over my head? I was the really load one that picked up and rode with the entire ride with a cardboard guy with his fist raised. Any know the person taking pictures of the ride after the Mexican building? jam_rock (at) verizon.net
