REVOLTING: Ron Paul "Cleans Up Well" in Philly, Nov. 10 2007

(FOREIGN-LANGUAGE FILM, Bullshit with English Subtitles)

Ron Paul and his followers onstage today didn't just talk from both sides of their mouths, they talked from every possible side of their mouths that they could talk from at once – like the guy who introduced Paul: the generically handsome New Jersey State Assemblyman Michael Doherty, who couldn't quit bragging about his three sons in Iraq and who accidentally let slip that Paul wanted to Bring The Troops Home so they could be used to enforce immigration law at the borders (what tha…you wanna run that by me again, there, Mr. Strict Constitutionalist?) – and, of course, The Ron himself, who couldn't quit bragging about his love for the Constitution and individual liberty, except when he's voting for the Protection Of Marriage Act and authoring the Sanctity Of Life Act.

Even allowing for the fact that it was a largely "Conservative" event in front of Independence Hall on Veteran's Day Weekend, this rally also featured some of the sappiest, most overwrought, cloying, melodramatic flag-kissing tributes ever offered. Speaker after speaker proffered endless deep, wet, gulping, sloppy rhetorical blowjobs to Our Nation's Veterans. Perks for Our Heroes included several large rows of "Priority Seating for Veterans" in front of the stage. That's right, Priority Seating for Veterans, not the handicapped — presumably as a poignant protest against the onerous provisions of the tyrannical and coercive Americans With Disabilities Act.

Anyway, happy Veterans' Day, and support our goddamn' troops, already.

There was a lot of yelling and screaming going on as well about the mix of political stripes and the wide spectrum of support at today's rally – indeed, the thousand or so odd folks at Independence Mall truly represented a most diverse gathering of upper-middle-class white people from all walks of life. On the left, a smattering of disgruntled Liberals, desperate Greens and misdirected IMF/WorldBank protesters; on the right, a gaggle or two of pro-lifers, Birchers, NWO conspiracy loons and skinheads and, in the middle, the hugest, widest, pastiest swath of pissed-off yellow-ribbon-stickered SUV drivers who ever paid $3.50 a gallon to drive all the way to Philadelphia.

I counted – tops – three black people at this event. THREE. This included the now-obligatory woman dressed as the Statue Of Liberty – perhaps four, if you include our pal Daryl, who covered this shindig for One People's Project…and, at the absolute most, six, if you count the two plainclothes cops wearing tacky orange armbands reading PHILADELPHIA POLICE.

As a rather creepy coda to the whole nutty afternoon, our pal Daryl Lamont Jenkins from One People's Project had a rather tense get-together with a gaggle of old nemeses representing part of Paul's grassroots base, the Keystone State Skinheads — including a couple of guys who attacked and beat Daryl at a Skinhead rally in Pennsylvania earlier this year — exchanging a few quiet insults and terse pleasantries and finishing off with one Skin's quote of the day in a parting shot, "Y'know, Daryl, you're scum, and we'll see you another day…"

This is really good, really well written . It provided a good dichotomy of the Ron Paul crowd SUV drivin' Beer Swillin' nutjobs and Skinheads and the NWO Loons oh and lets not forget his 3 black fans who might not be fans anymore after they saw things but who knows maybe Ron is really good at paying people a salary to come out and drone on about him!

" FOUR BLACK FEMALES in the group I came with. Not to mention the two vegans, four vegetarians, three non-heteros"

4+2+4+3=13 people = quite the big SUV taking that fake made up little fantasy gang.

BTW- when you are trying to pretend you are a liberal/progressive when you are doing your netroot posting, for future reference, we don't use the term "non-hetros".

Better luck next time.

LOL!

Oh wait I think I got what they said by no republicans, they are Neo-Paleoconservatives, the new racist right wingers who don't want to call themselves republicans because people don't like republicans so they want to be hep and cuul man and be like us non hetero progressives who are antiwar (as in antiwar.com which is a right wing site)

Forgot to add....I'm not a "liberal/progressive"....liberals/neoliberals believe that the government will solve the peoples' problems. I think a lack of government will solve our problems. Call me what you want, but the only time I'll ever say I was a liberal was when I joined in the sing-a-long at NCOR 2006 during Evan Greer's version of "Love Me I'm a Liberal"

Re: REVOLTING: Ron Paul "Cleans Up Well" in Philly, Nov. 10 2007

Well goddam, you missed the FOUR BLACK FEMALES in the group I came with. Not to mention the two vegans, four vegetarians, three non-heteros, ZERO REPUBLICANS......and all of us poor/working class.

So you don't like Ron Paul, fine, he's got some crazy views - but don't lie and paint his supporters in a false view - that goes AGAINST the very thing IndyMedia was formed to combat (ie lies in reporting).

Those of us who are sick of being promised the world (and ending up getting fucked) are supporting Ron Paul because he's offering a change (despite his many misgivings). I'm done with marching for peace and "fighting the imperialists." NOTHING HAS CHANGED! Think of us what you will, but those of us who are supporting Ron Paul are doing it because the rest of you have failed us, and he's our next best hope.

Here come the Rondroid psycho netroots.

The good thing is that they end up turning everyone off with their idiot comments and show what they are really about.

Because all you are showing us is that not only is Ron Paul a nutcase, but his cult worshippers are just as bad.

Have some more Koolaide, Spanky.

Nazis were there

Re: Re: REVOLTING: Ron Paul "Cleans Up Well" in Philly, Nov. 10 2007

Actually the crowd was mostly republicans a bunch of Keystone State Skinheads a few pro-lifers maybe 4 people of color. I remember one of the speakers talking about "them taking money from the middle class" (and how that was wrong) and the whole crowd was cheering so your working class thing is bullshit these were all fairly rich or middle class republicans and kooky nuts and maybe some of those kooks are vegetarians I don't know because I didn't ask people what they ate and nobody made it clear. Oh and you know Ron Paul is not going to win but his campaign is all about the MONEY, where is this money going and why is his campaign about money. He claims to be against taxes and taking your money and what is he doing, TAKING YOUR MONEY!!!!!
Oh and here is a little peice about your rally from none other than Ron Pauls favorite contributors STORMFRONT and it was written by your buddies the KSS! (but of course this is just one small posting about Ron Paul you can look all over SF and find plenty of pro Ron Paul stuff and links where you can get Ron Paul to take your money!!!!)

Re: Re: Re: REVOLTING: Ron Paul "Cleans Up Well" in Philly, Nov. 10 2007

Just don't assume when you look at a crowd of people. It took me a long time to decide to finally jump on board with him, but two things really stood out.

1 - We're fucked if anyone else wins, but at least with Ron Paul, fewer people in other countries will die.

2 - Ron Paul is the first presidential candidate (with major exposure) who's been pushing the idea of an evil federal government that must be stopped (at least, in modern history). This can only help the anti-government movement....unless all those "anarchists" who come to NCOR are actually just liberal hippies who are more into the masturbatory protests than they are in actually decreasing the power of the government. Already, more people are exposed to the evils of the Federal Reserve, the IRS, the US military industrial complex, etc...than any radical campaign. Ron Paul supporters are rabid people who get shit done. A lot of the activists on IndyMedia are all talk. I love to death the friends I have made, but I left for a reason - there's no plan, no growth, and half of you are privileged white kids whose livelihoods aren't on the line here. Its easy for you to piss and moan and critique those of us who do take a risk, when you don't have to worry about the outcome.

Its like a pacifist telling an oppressed person not to respond in violence against their oppressor (a la Peter Gelderloos' "How NonViolence Protects the State").

Re: Re: REVOLTING: Ron Paul "Cleans Up Well" in Philly, Nov. 10 2007

You should have seen the parking garage filled with BIG OLE' SUVS WITH RON PAUL STICKERS and lets not forget all the workers that were there, the ones who slaved away in their nice fancy office chairs, those poor poor poor middle class people who the governement is taking money from! It's just so sad when the middle class and the upper class are in such a squeeze sometimes they can only afford one suv and maybe a lexus and plus all the money they have to contribute to the Ronald McPaul campaign must really make them in a crunch for cash pretty soon they might have to rent out their summer home. Oh but it's ok Ron Paul has a good standing with the unions, I mean he has mainly less then 50% ratings from the unions (there are a few over 50 and 1 80% rating from 2000 but mostly zero to 50)
www.vote-smart.org/issue_rating_category.php

And I thought this quite funny the racist group FAIR gave Ron Paul an 88% on immigration (88 being HH being Heil Hitler)

Oh and he got great reviews from the NRA which has no problem giving guns to terrorists (because it is their second amendement right to kill americans ummm...own guns)
And he got about a 20% from the Brady Camp. to prevent gun violence (suprised he even got that, the man wants people to have guns so they can get rid of non white people!)

Re: Re: REVOLTING: Ron Paul "Cleans Up Well" in Philly, Nov. 10 2007

He also scored big points with the JOHN BIRCH SOCIETY, his campaign seems to be the Neo-Birchers who are using his campaign to get your money and then take it for themselves!

Re: REVOLTING: Ron Paul "Cleans Up Well" in Philly, Nov. 10 2007

Thanks, Mikey, for posting this.

I can understand why some progressives and libertarians would like Ron Paul, but I don't get why some progressives who should know better are supporting Paul. Any anarchist who supports Paul is just crazy.

Ron Paul is a candidate whose positions on various issues are easily available. If somebody is supporting him despite the fact that he supports policies that are inimical to your beliefs, then you are just a fool. If you oppose the current hysteria about "illegal" immigrants and support Paul, who is for stronger borders, than don't be surprised when your peers roll their eyes in disgust.

The idea that Ron Paul would bring about a smaller government is laughable, because it flies in the face of political reality. For starters, you just can't vote a smaller government into existence. Secondly, even if Paul got elected, most of the politicians would oppose a smaller government.

I'd like to know how much the Ron Paul movement overlaps with the 9/11 conspiracy movement. There are some ties between these and the Minutemen, so it isn't far-fetched that Paul supporters have no problem with his policies on immigration. They are anti-immigrant, so naturally they agree with Paul about stronger borders.

As an anarchist, I say that we need to abolish borders and give people true freedom.

Re: REVOLTING: Ron Paul "Cleans Up Well" in Philly, Nov. 10 2007

There appears to be some confusion or wrong assumption that "progressives" support this candidate. He and his supporters appear to be consistent in their zenophobic, anti-big government views, including the exceptionalism for abortion, and the pretense that they are not racists.

All kinds of groups are against "New World Order". This sounds like the same folks who created militias in the 90's.

Re: REVOLTING: Ron Paul "Cleans Up Well" in Philly, Nov. 10 2007

Re: REVOLTING: Ron Paul "Cleans Up Well" in Philly, Nov. 10 2007

WOw I didnt know Indymedia had turned into a blog with someone trying to convince people through bias and slander.

Re: Re: REVOLTING: Ron Paul "Cleans Up Well" in Philly, Nov. 10 2007

Well then get off, you are slandering all the hard work of those who hate racism using your Ron Paul drone bias!
