'Stop Loss Congress' sows chaos on Hill

On March 12, the Stop Loss Congress project blocked Independance Ave on the house side of the Hill, blocked the Senate parking lot on that side of Congress, and protested inside the Senate galleries as well with Senators looking on.

Over a dozen arrests(looked like 16) at the Independance Ave blockade resulted after protesters held the intersection for about 40 Minutes. Ten more were arrested in the "Ghosts of War" protest in the Senate Galleries and an unknown further number at the Senate parking lot blockade.

The purpose of the blockades was an attempt to prevent members of Congress from leaving for vacation until they bring home all troops and contractors from Iraq-including those who have been involuntarily extended the way protesters tried to involuntarily extend Congress.

Re: 'Stop Loss Congress' sows chaos on Hill

Looks like there were more cops than protesters.

Doesn' really look like much "chaos" either.

Re: 'Stop Loss Congress' sows chaos on Hill

Terrible turnout. Enuff said

Re: 'Stop Loss Congress' sows chaos on Hill

LOOKS LIKE NO CHAOS

Re: 'Stop Loss Congress' sows chaos on Hill

So, why did congress leave if you were so efficient in your blockade? Stupid progressive morons, LOL

Re: 'Stop Loss Congress' sows chaos on Hill

How the fuck can you call a sit in of 15 people in a corner a blockade of Congress! Nothing was achieved, except all of you looking like idiots! I guess the cops must be really happy with getting all that money in fines paid by those arrested! Why do these people insist in paying the cops for arresting them!? What's the fucking rationale behind these actions!? Stop enriching the cops' coffers now! By paying all that money to the police, you're only paying to support state terrorism here and abroad!

Re: 'Stop Loss Congress' sows chaos on Hill

There's nothing more pathetic than so-called progressives and liberals who criticize injustice without taking action against it. Maybe if some of you who sit around at your computers all day typing comments on discussion boards had joined these courageous men and women (many of whom were veterans), the action would have been even more disruptive. It's strange, they who make no sacrifices for peace and justice are the first to criticize those who put their bodies and well-being on the line. To the authors of the previous five comments, you are what's wrong with this country, and you are complicit in the crimes against humanity that our government continues to commit with impunity. Without your complicity, cynicism, and derision toward people who are actively resisting that injustice, we would not be in Iraq. You can fairly critique strategy or tactics, but to mock or insult those arrested is inexcusable.
