WSQT to Fenty: Keep your promise to residents of 3145 Mt Pleasant Street

Mayor Fenty was reported by the March 20 Washington Post to have promised residents of 3145 Mt Pleasant St(burned out last week) that the landlord would be forced to rebuild and move them back in at their prior rents.

In the meantime, Fenty is promising subsidized apartments for the over 200 people displaced by the suspicious fire for up to 2 years.

What many wonder is this: Are these promises meant to be kept-or are they just a bunch of hot air meant to keep down neighborhood anger until residents can be scattered and moved out, too dispersed to organize and fight back when the promises are broken and shiny new condos open at 3145 Mt Pleasant St. History in DC suggests the latter will occur unless the Mayor and the city government have their feet held to the fire, so to speak.

Mayor Fenty, Deauville Partners-YOU ARE BEING WATCHED! People in the community know who you are and what you are promising, and people in the community expect these promises to be kept.
