IVAW protests war at Lafayette to remember 4000 dead

On March 24, George Bush refused to lower the White House flag to half mast in memory of the 4000 US soldiers who have died in Iraq. In the evening, Iraq Veterans Against the War protested both this, the refusal of Bush to attend GI funerals, and the war itself in Lafayette Park.

IVAW members showed up in black Iraq Veterans Against the War T-shirts and camoflage pants, with two huge US flags flown inverted as an international symbol of distress.

One by one, members spoke out against the lies GI's were sent to war under, and against Bush's failure to even bother to remember those who gave their lives in a cause that itself proved to be yet another lie.

That's right, humm just keep "supporting" the
troops until there's no more troops left alive
to support 4000 . . . and counting

If I ran inside your house and started putting up leaflets that said something that you disagreed with, I would be standing on shaky ground calling you a fascist for taking those leaflets down.

This is our website. Someone pays for the bandwidth, and they are curteous enough to allow you to post at all. Why they waste that bandwidth and don't just ban troll IP addresses (as is regularly done on freerepublic.com, for example) is beyond me, but it is clear that they are being generous in letting you post here at all. Your sense of entitlement is showing.

Open discussion happens in public space. DC's venues for public space are quickly dwindling, sold off to developers and yuppies for condos and charter schools. You are the reason open discussion is limited, not us. You are the one selling off the commons, not us.

"Open discussion happens in public space."

This site is the very definition of an open public forum. People don't even have to log in to post.

Comparing DC IMC to someone's house is a farce. If my house was like this site, I'd have one giant wall to hang stuff on. That's it. No security, no means of keeping trolls out, nothing.

Until this site is secure, and by that I mean members only, it will be considered a public forum. I'd like to think that the people on this site hold themselves above censorship in the name of furthering an agenda. Your own motto is violated every time a differing opinion is shot down.
