What is happening today is nothing less than an extension of the Indian Wars, as right-wing racist bigots seek to prevent people of Indigenous descent from moving back onto Native American land. This county in Virginia is making up immigration "law" that they themselves admit to being unconstitutional; in other words, "illegal".

Luke is right, one doesn't need a major political or historical analysis in order to understand that all current US security forces campaigns of harassment, sweeps and removal against Latino immigrants originate out of the same fear, racism and hate that is at the core of the foundation of this most "illegal" nation. And just like when they used the same tactics in the past to remove our ancestors from their native lands and communities, they do the same to us today; arresting, jailing and removing even our small children! One thing is for sure, the fight for justice of all Native Latinos, from all the Americas, here in this empire is just beginning! In this context is also important to point out that we, as native people, should never fall for the regionalisms or nationalisms that ruling elites all over the continent have used to keep us fighting each other. Whether is in North America, Central America or South America, ruling classes in each country/state share an inherent hate and racism towards native peoples! Whether of British, Spanish or French descent, they are all the same and their intent always has been and is to preserve their material wealth at our expense! We must remember that ruling classes of every country all over the continent cooperate with each other and still use the famous tactic of "divide and conquer" in order to keep us submerged in misery and poverty! We must remember that a white racist in the US is not better than a white racist in Quebec or a white racist in Argentina!

That's why it's very important that we, Native peoples, resist this latest racist assault by white colonizers and imperialists on our dignity through a united front of Native peoples from all over the continent, regardless of region and nationality! A single region or nationality type of agenda won't succeed in this fight if it doesn't include all the Native regions and cultures of the entire continent! Only then we'll
be able to create a strong resistance movement that moves beyond the current peaceful denunciation of terrorist acts by the US state against our people!

I think it is inaccurate to characterize immigration enforcement as an inherently racist enterprise. The anti-native conspiracy theory is really interesting. It sounds like an American Zionism (Anasazism?). I don't like the sound of it.

We all live here now; by your theory do we displace the millions who live on Manhattan and return it to Algonquian nature? Do you think that's justice? 6 million displaced (what percentage of them would end up as place-less refugees?) The ICE raids are a terribly inefficient way to deal with the problem. The only way to fix this problem is to put every ICE, INS and state/local law enforcement officer currently hunting illegal immigrants on the trail of the employers who hire them. When American service industries begin to deal with the fact that one offense will put them out of business for good, there wont be very many illegal immigrants around anymore.

That is the only path to real progress for American workers.

I think there should be ICE stationed at the entrance to every new housing development in Virginia checking papers, and it should be the employer that gets the fine not the immigrant. 1st offense: $10,000 2nd offense: $20,000 3rd offense: $50,000 and the revocation of business license.

Who brought the smallpox to this continent that so conveniently vacated the land? I'll tell you who did-the Spanish and the British, who then turned around and pronounced that "God has cleared this land for us" and built settler cabins over the ruins of millions of lives.

It is NOT the theory of Hitler that calls for a continent-wide alliance of all Native peoples, but rather that of Tecumseh, who sought to organize not only a military alliance but to unite all those who were defending this continent as one people-as one fist that would punch back the tide of settlers.

Tecumseh was a warrior of all and a chief over none.
