Coverage of May 1 Immigrant events

The Mayday Immigrant marches and rallies in DC featured a strong Indigenous/Native American component. Two years ago, white racists whined about Mexican and Salvadoran flags in the May 1 march, now they face a growing Pan-Indigenous consciousness that could prove their worst nightmare!

Malcolm X Park before the march
At both the Noon press conference and the Malcolm X Park rally, feature speakers included both the US citizens from VA who crossed the border along migrant trails to protest conditions there, and Barry Carter with a group of Okenishe Indians, also from Virginia.

Barry Carter pointed out that as Native Americans crossing from one piece of Native Ameircan land to another over borders invaders drew, migrants are not only not "illegal," but not even immigrants! It is the racist MinuteKlan and the Prince William County bigots who are the immigrants, in fact!

At Malcolm X Park, the Okenoshe began the event with a beautiful drum ceremony. After the spekers finished, a day that began with marches on both DNC and RNC headquarters wrapped up with a march through Mt Pleasant and Colombia Heights, passing both the burned-out Deauville Apartments and that shiny new Target mall intended to replace the community in that area.

On May 1, some commercial real estate group had foolishly schedlued a bus tour for prospective corporate bosses featuring avaialbe sites in Prince William County.

Tenants and Workers United saturated all 9 busses with fliers warning hi-tech and biotech firms NOT to locate in Prince William County as immigrant workers would not want to move there.

The Washington Post reported banners as well as the fliers, leading to the possiblkty that Prince William County might lose even more potential business as a result.
