Background:

Tyler Froatz has been involved with the Herndon Minutemen as well as other racist groups.

On May 1, 2007, he showed up at Malcolm X Park as the immigrant rally was setting up. He ran to his car after he assaulted an organizer and vowed to kill immigrants-and was arrested as he ran to his car. His car turned out to be filled with loaded guns and extra ammo-and a police raid on an apartment in Petworth he was renting turned up dozens of guns and posters advocating wholesale slaughter of immigrants. On his person were maps showing lines of fire into Malcolm X park-and the rally!

He spent 6 weeks in DC jail before being released pending trial. He plea-bargained for reduced charges of assault and weapons violations-and now many in the community fear that this armed terrorist will walk, receiving little or no jail time. If Froatz gets off, this will send a message to racist bigots that they can carry guns and harm or kill people of color without fear of effective prosecution.

Say NO to armed racist terror-come out to DC superior court on Cinco de Mayo (Monday, May 5) 9:30 AM and let everyone know that terrorist threats and attempts to carry them out against people of color will not be tolerated.

Possession of an unregistered firearm: M1 Carbine rifle

Unlawful Possession of ammunition

Unlawful Possession of a Molotov Cocktail

The Carrying a Dangerous Weapon and Possession of a Molotov Cocktail charges carry statutory terms of up to 5 years imprisonment.

The Unlawful Possession of a firearm and Ammunition charges carry statutory terms of up to 1 year imprisonment.

However the DOJ is advertising that he will likely face 6-24 months on the Carrying a Dangerous Weapon charge. They do not indicate sentencing recommendations for the other charges.
